She started swimming at the age of two and half where kids can barely walk. She was born in Mumbai and brought up in Udaipur. Her mother is a national-level swimmer. She trains Bhakthi from a very young age.

He is living in a 100 room mansion along with his family in Baktwang village, Indian state of Mizzoram. He told the reporters that 'I consider myself lucky to be the head of the world's largest family and the husband of 39 women'
